Conditions We Treat
An abdominal aortic aneurysm is detected in 200,000 Americans per year (AAA). Aortic aneurysm rupture is the 15th largest cause of death in the United States, and the 10th major cause of death in men over the age of 55.
An Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a weakening, bulging section of your abdominal aorta, which delivers blood to your lower half of your body. Screening for and detecting this aneurysm can help to prevent its growth, obstruction, and rupture. AAAs do not always cause issues, but a ruptured aneurysm can be fatal. Aortic aneurysm screening can save your life.
AAAs are more prevalent in men and smokers between the ages of 65 and 75. There are usually no symptoms, but it can occasionally produce pain in the belly, back, and/or legs due to pressure from disrupted blood flow.
1 in 20 Americans over the age of 50 has Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD).
Peripheral arterial disease occurs when fatty plaque accumulates in the arteries and veins of the legs, restricting blood flow. PAD, like congested arteries in the heart, increases the chance of having a heart attack or stroke.
PAD resembles coronary artery disease (CAD). Both are caused by atherosclerosis, which narrows arteries and prevents appropriate blood flow to vital organs.
